New Year New Season 3/15/21

I have been playing golf ever since I could walk. I have learned a tremendous amount from the game that correlates to my daily life, and has shaped the person I am today. Integrity is a characteristic that golf has taught me to value in others, as well as strive to achieve myself. Unlike many sports, there is no referee. You are the one responsible for knowing the rules and writing down your score. Honesty and integrity are part of the game itself. Not all of the girls I’ve played with over the years have learned the lessons that golf can teach. Some have cheated, and confronting these situations is not an easy thing to do, but has to be done. Golf has taught me to take pride in my integrity. Just this past year during the district tournament, my opponent read my score over and she had me for a shot better than what I thought I scored. I told her what I thought I got, and she erased her mark and added a shot to my score. After the match finished, they released the names of who made the cut for state, and I was cut by one shot, just one. Looking back, I don't regret taking an extra stroke. I value my integrity and even though it cost me a spot at the state tournament, I stayed honest. The lessons I’ve learned from golf will last a lifetime, and with out golf I don't know If i would value integrity the same way I do today.
